  2. 2

Pick the delimiter and whether the first row is a header.

  3. 3

The JSON output updates instantly on the right.

  4. 4

Copy it or download it as a .json file.

Why convert CSV to JSON?

JSON is the format most web APIs, JavaScript apps, and NoSQL databases expect, while CSV is what spreadsheets and exports from other tools produce. Converting between the two is one of the most common small data tasks in any workflow - this tool does it instantly without needing a script or a spreadsheet macro.

Privacy-first CSV conversion

Because the conversion runs with plain JavaScript in your own browser tab, no file ever touches a server. That makes it safe to use on data you wouldn't want to upload to a random website, from customer lists to financial exports.

When CSV/JSON isn't the final destination

If the JSON needs to land in an analytics pipeline rather than an API, convert it one step further with our JSON to Parquet tool, or open the result straight in the CSV data profiler to check column types and spot gaps before it goes anywhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Does this upload my CSV file anywhere?

No. Parsing happens in your browser with JavaScript. The file never leaves your device, and there's no server involved.

Can it handle CSV files with commas inside quoted fields?

Yes. The parser follows the standard CSV quoting rules (RFC 4180): fields wrapped in double quotes can safely contain commas, newlines, and escaped quotes.

What if my CSV uses semicolons or tabs instead of commas?

Switch the delimiter selector to semicolon, tab, or pipe before converting.

Can I convert JSON back to CSV with this same tool?

Yes, use the JSON → CSV toggle above the input box. It accepts an array of flat objects and produces a CSV with a header row built from the union of all keys.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no artificial limit, but very large files (tens of megabytes) depend on your device's memory since everything is processed in-browser.
