Lorem Ipsum Generator

Generate placeholder text for mockups, wireframes, and layout testing, drawn from the classic Lorem Ipsum word pool. Choose paragraph mode (set paragraph count, sentences per paragraph, and words per sentence) or a flat word-count mode, optionally start with the familiar 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...' opener, and optionally pin a numeric seed so the exact same text can be regenerated later. That's useful when you need identical filler text across a design file and its documentation. Generation runs entirely in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

Choose Paragraphs mode (set paragraph count, sentences per paragraph, and words per sentence) or Word count mode.

  2. 2

Optionally enable 'Start with classic opener' to begin with the familiar 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit'.

  3. 3

Optionally set a numeric seed to get the exact same generated text every time, handy for reproducing the same filler copy across a mockup and its spec.

  4. 4

Copy or download the generated text as a .txt file.

Why designers and developers still use Lorem Ipsum

Real content is rarely ready when a layout needs testing, and using recognizable filler text like Lorem Ipsum keeps reviewers focused on typography, spacing, and structure instead of getting distracted by reading actual sentences. It's become the de facto standard placeholder precisely because its Latin-like rhythm looks like real prose without being distractingly readable.

Reproducible filler text with a seed

Most Lorem Ipsum generators produce different text on every reload, which is fine for a one-off mockup but awkward when you need the same paragraph to appear in a Figma file, a spec document, and a test fixture. This generator's optional seed uses a small deterministic pseudo-random generator (mulberry32) so the same seed and settings always reproduce byte-identical output.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real Latin?

It's Lorem Ipsum, text derived from a passage of Cicero's 'De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum' that's been used as typographic placeholder text since the 1500s. It reads like Latin but isn't meant to be translated or meaningful.

What does the seed field do?

By default, each generation uses fresh randomness so you get different text every time. Setting a seed switches to a deterministic pseudo-random generator. The same seed with the same settings always produces identical output, which is useful when you need the same placeholder text to show up consistently in multiple places.

What's the difference between Paragraphs mode and Word count mode?

Paragraphs mode generates full paragraphs of capitalized, punctuated sentences using the paragraph/sentence/word settings you provide. Word count mode ignores sentence structure and just returns a flat run of exactly the number of words you asked for.

Can I get the exact traditional Lorem Ipsum opening line?

Yes, enable 'Start with classic opener' and the output begins with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit', truncated to fit if you asked for very few words, or extended with more random words if your sentence is longer.

Does this send my settings anywhere?

No. All text generation happens locally in your browser using JavaScript; nothing is uploaded or logged.
