Image Cropper

Upload a photo or screenshot, drag out a crop rectangle over it, resize it from any corner or edge, then export exactly that region as a full-resolution PNG or JPEG. No upload to a server - the crop is drawn to an offscreen canvas and downloaded straight from your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

Drop in or upload the image you want to crop.

  2. 2

Drag the crop rectangle into position, and resize it from any handle.

  3. 3

Choose PNG or JPEG output and, for JPEG, a quality level.

  4. 4

Download the cropped region at the image's native resolution.

A crop tool with no upload step

Most online crop tools require you to upload your image to their server before you can even see a preview. This one skips that: the file is read locally with the browser's FileReader API, the crop rectangle is manipulated with plain pointer events, and the final image is produced by drawing onto a canvas, all without a network request.

Pixel-accurate exports from a scaled preview

To keep the interface usable on any screen, the preview image is displayed at a reduced size while you position the crop box. Behind the scenes, the tool tracks the exact scale factor between the preview and the original file, so the coordinates you drag map back precisely to native-resolution pixels when you download.

Frequently asked questions

Does the crop preserve the original image resolution?

Yes. The crop rectangle you drag is shown at a scaled-down preview size, but when you export, the tool maps that rectangle back to the image's native pixel dimensions and draws it to an offscreen canvas, so there's no quality loss from the preview scaling.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is loaded into your browser with the FileReader API and cropped with the Canvas API on your device, so nothing is sent to a server.

Can I resize the crop box from any side, not just the corners?

Yes, there are eight drag handles - four corners and four edge midpoints - so you can adjust width and height independently or together.

What output formats are supported?

PNG (lossless, supports transparency) and JPEG (smaller file size, with an adjustable quality slider from 10% to 100%).

Can I crop a screenshot with transparent areas?

Yes, if you export as PNG the transparency in the cropped region is preserved. Exporting as JPEG will flatten transparent areas to a solid background since JPEG doesn't support alpha.
