From spreadsheet exports to documentation tables

Documentation, READMEs, and pull request descriptions often need a small table pulled straight from a spreadsheet or database export. Rather than hand-typing pipe characters and separator dashes, this tool turns a CSV export into a ready-to-paste Markdown table in one step.

Correct GFM syntax without the guesswork

GitHub-Flavored-Markdown tables have specific rules for header separators, alignment markers, and escaping special characters like the pipe symbol. This converter handles all of that automatically, so the table renders correctly the first time.

Frequently asked questions

Does it support column alignment?

Yes. Once your CSV has a header row, an alignment selector appears for each column. Choosing left, center, or right updates the Markdown separator row (:---, :---:, or ---:) accordingly.

What happens to pipe characters or line breaks inside a cell?

Pipe characters are automatically escaped with a backslash so they don't break the table structure, and line breaks inside a quoted CSV field are converted to <br> so every row stays on one Markdown line.

Does the output work on GitHub, GitLab, and other Markdown renderers?

Yes, the table follows the GitHub-Flavored-Markdown (GFM) table syntax, which is also supported by GitLab, most static site generators, and any Markdown renderer with table extensions enabled.

Can I use a delimiter other than a comma?

Yes, switch the delimiter selector to semicolon, tab, or pipe before pasting your CSV data.

Is my CSV data uploaded anywhere?

No, the conversion runs in your browser using JavaScript, and nothing is sent to a server.
