Video Trim & Crop Tool

Upload a video, set a trim start/end range, and drag a crop rectangle over the playback area, then export a new video that's both trimmed to your selected range and cropped to your rectangle, with the original audio track preserved. Choose MP4 or WebM as the output container; the tool automatically picks whichever your browser can encode. Everything runs on-device using the browser's native WebCodecs API, no upload involved.

How it works

  1. 1

Upload a video file and let it load in the player.

  2. 2

Set the trim start and end points with the range sliders.

  3. 3

Drag and resize the crop rectangle over the video preview.

  4. 4

Pick MP4 or WebM and export. The tool trims, crops, and re-encodes the file with its original audio into a downloadable video.

Real encoding, no plugins or uploads needed

Rather than relying on a heavyweight WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, this tool uses the browser's own native WebCodecs API to read, trim, crop, and re-encode your video directly, including its audio track, producing a real MP4 or WebM file without ever sending your video to a server.

A crop box that behaves like a real editor

The crop rectangle supports both moving and resizing from any of eight handles, exactly like the crop tool in a dedicated image or video editor, and the coordinates you set on the (possibly downscaled) preview are automatically translated to the video's native resolution before export, so the output is never blurry or misaligned.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export as MP4 now?

Yes. The tool uses the browser's native WebCodecs API to encode real MP4 (H.264) or WebM (VP9) directly on your device, and lets you pick which one. It automatically detects which formats your specific browser can encode and disables the other if unsupported.

Does trimming and cropping happen on a server?

No. Reading the file, trimming, cropping, and re-encoding all happen entirely client-side in your browser tab using WebCodecs, so the video is never uploaded anywhere.

Will the exported video have audio?

Yes. The original audio track is preserved and re-encoded alongside the video (as AAC for MP4 or Opus for WebM), unlike a basic canvas-recording approach which would only capture picture.

What if my browser doesn't support MP4 or WebM encoding?

The tool checks what your browser can actually encode before you export and only offers the formats that will work. If neither is available (a very old browser), it tells you plainly rather than producing a broken file. Try a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.

Can I adjust the crop after setting the trim range?

Yes, the crop rectangle and the trim range are independent controls. You can adjust either one, in either order, right up until you click export.
