Open Graph Tag Analyzer & Social Preview

Paste the source of a page and the analyzer extracts its Open Graph, Twitter Card, title, description and canonical tags. It renders approximate share previews for Facebook, X and LinkedIn using the same fallbacks the platforms use, and lists errors and warnings such as a missing og:image, a relative image URL, an over-long title or an og:url that differs from the canonical.

How it works

  1. 1

Open your page, view the source and copy the HTML, or just the head section.

  2. 2

Paste it into the analyzer; tags are extracted instantly.

  3. 3

Review the Facebook, X and LinkedIn previews and fix the listed errors and warnings.

Why link previews matter

The preview card is often the first impression of your page: it decides whether someone clicks a shared link. A clear title, a concise description and a correctly sized image tend to get more clicks on social feeds and messaging apps, which also read Open Graph tags to build their own link cards.

Typical Open Graph mistakes

The most frequent problems are a missing or relative og:image, images that are too small and get cropped or ignored, an og:url pointing to a different address than the canonical, and no twitter:card so X shows a small thumbnail. Titles above about 60 characters and descriptions above about 155 are often truncated.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I just enter a URL?

A browser-based tool cannot read another website because of cross-origin restrictions. Pasting the HTML works for pages on any site, including staging and pre-launch pages that are not public, and keeps your data on your device.

What is the ideal og:image size?

1200×630 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio, is supported everywhere. Keep the file under 5 MB, use an absolute HTTPS URL, and keep important content away from the edges because some platforms crop.

Are the previews exact?

They are close approximations. Each network changes its layout over time and caches previews, so after fixing tags use the official Facebook Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector to refresh the cache.

Which tags does X use?

X reads twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description and twitter:image, and falls back to the Open Graph equivalents when they are missing. Setting twitter:card to summary_large_image gives the large image layout.
