Video Crop Tool

Upload a video and drag a resizable crop rectangle directly over the playback area to cut away unwanted edges, zoom into a subject, or change the frame's aspect ratio, then export the cropped result as MP4 or WebM with the original audio preserved. The full video length is kept; only the frame is cropped. Everything runs on-device using the browser's native WebCodecs API, no upload involved.

How it works

  1. 1

Upload a video file and let it load in the player.

  2. 2

Drag and resize the crop rectangle over the video preview.

  3. 3

    Pick MP4 or WebM.

  4. 4

Export: the tool crops and re-encodes the full-length file with its original audio into a downloadable video.

A crop box that behaves like a real editor

The crop rectangle supports both moving and resizing from any of eight handles, exactly like the crop tool in a dedicated image or video editor. The coordinates you set on the (possibly downscaled) preview are automatically translated to the video's native resolution before export, so the output is never blurry or misaligned.

Real encoding, no plugins or uploads needed

Rather than relying on a heavyweight WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, this tool uses the browser's own native WebCodecs API to read, crop, and re-encode your video directly, including its audio track, producing a real MP4 or WebM file without ever sending your video to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping trim the length of my video?

No. This tool only changes the frame area; the entire original duration is kept. If you also need to trim a time range, use the separate Video Cut tool, or the combined Video Trim & Crop tool.

Does cropping happen on a server?

No. Reading the file, cropping, and re-encoding all happen entirely client-side in your browser tab using WebCodecs, so the video is never uploaded anywhere.

Will the exported video have audio?

Yes. The original audio track is preserved and re-encoded alongside the video (as AAC for MP4 or Opus for WebM).

Can I use this to change my video's aspect ratio?

Yes. Dragging the crop rectangle's handles into a 9:16, 1:1, or any other shape lets you reframe a landscape video for social feeds or stories, for example.

What if my browser doesn't support MP4 or WebM encoding?

The tool checks what your browser can actually encode before you export and only offers the formats that will work. Try a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari if neither is available.
