Video Cut Tool

Upload a video, drag the start and end range sliders to pick exactly the section you want to keep, and export it as a new MP4 or WebM with the original audio preserved. No crop, no resize, just a clean cut to the exact time range you set. Everything runs on-device using the browser's native WebCodecs API, no upload involved.

How it works

  1. 1

Upload a video file and let it load in the player.

  2. 2

Drag the start and end range sliders to the section you want to keep.

  3. 3

    Pick MP4 or WebM.

  4. 4

Export: the tool cuts and re-encodes exactly that range with its original audio into a downloadable video.

Real encoding, no plugins or uploads needed

Rather than relying on a heavyweight WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, this tool uses the browser's own native WebCodecs API to read, cut, and re-encode your video directly, including its audio track, producing a real MP4 or WebM file without ever sending your video to a server.

A dedicated cutting tool, nothing else bundled in

If you only need to shorten a clip, this tool skips the cropping controls entirely so the interface stays focused: upload, drag two sliders, export. For a combined trim-and-crop workflow, use the separate Video Trim & Crop tool instead.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool re-encode the whole file or just extract the range?

It re-encodes only the selected range, so the output file only contains the section between your start and end points, with duration equal to that range.

Does cutting happen on a server?

No. Reading the file, cutting, and re-encoding all happen entirely client-side in your browser tab using WebCodecs, so the video is never uploaded anywhere.

Will the exported clip have audio?

Yes. The original audio track is preserved and re-encoded alongside the video for the selected range (as AAC for MP4 or Opus for WebM).

How precise can I set the start and end points?

The range sliders move in 0.1-second steps, which is precise enough for most trimming needs like cutting out a slow intro or an extra few seconds at the end.

What if my browser doesn't support MP4 or WebM encoding?

The tool checks what your browser can actually encode before you export and only offers the formats that will work. Try a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari if neither is available.
