3D Model Compressor
Drop a 3D model and this tool merges duplicate vertices (a common source of bloated meshes from exports and scans), caps embedded texture resolution, and re-exports everything as a single optimized binary .glb file, usually smaller than the original. It runs with three.js in your browser; the model is never uploaded.

How it works
- 1
Drop or select a 3D model in any supported format.
- 2
Duplicate vertices (within a small tolerance) are merged to remove redundant geometry.
- 3
Embedded textures are capped to your chosen maximum resolution.
- 4
The model is re-exported as a single optimized binary .glb, with before/after size shown.
Where 3D files actually bloat up
Exported and scanned meshes often carry thousands of vertices that are mathematically duplicates (same position, normal and UV, just stored twice), plus textures baked at far higher resolution than any viewer will show. Removing both brings the file size down without touching the model's actual shape.
One format in, one optimized GLB out
Whatever format you start from, the compressor normalizes the result into a single binary GLB, a compact and widely supported 3D format, so the output ends up both smaller and more broadly compatible than the source file.
Frequently asked questions
Does this reduce the polygon count (decimation)?
No. This tool merges near-duplicate vertices left over from exports and scans, which removes redundant data without changing the model's visible shape. It's not a mesh-simplification or decimation tool, and it won't alter the silhouette.
Will textures look worse after compression?
Capping the maximum texture resolution can make very high-resolution textures look softer up close, but for most web/AR viewing distances a 1024px or 2048px cap is visually indistinguishable while cutting file size significantly.
What format is the compressed output?
Always a single binary .glb, regardless of the input format, since GLB packs geometry, materials and textures efficiently into one file.
Is my 3D model uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing, optimizing and exporting happen in your browser using three.js, so the file never leaves your device.
