FBX to GLB Converter

Drop an Autodesk .fbx file and the tool parses its meshes, materials and skeleton with three.js's FBXLoader, then re-exports the scene as a single binary .glb file for web viewers, AR and game engines. The conversion runs in your browser, so the model stays on your device.

How it works

  1. 1

Drop or select an .fbx file.

  2. 2

The tool parses its meshes, materials and bone hierarchy with three.js's FBXLoader.

  3. 3

The scene is re-exported as a single binary .glb file.

  4. 4

Preview the model and download the .glb.

From a game-engine staple to a web standard

FBX has long been the default exchange format between 3D software like Blender, Maya and Unity, but its binary layout is complex and wasn't built for the web. GLB packages geometry, materials and textures into one compact file meant to load fast in browsers and AR viewers.

Built on three.js

This tool uses three.js's FBXLoader to parse the file and its GLTFExporter to write the GLB. Both load on demand through a dynamic import, so the rest of the site isn't weighed down.

Frequently asked questions

Are FBX animations preserved?

Mesh geometry, materials and the node hierarchy convert over. The FBX parser does read embedded animation clips, but this tool is built for exporting the static scene, so check that any clip still plays correctly after export.

Why convert FBX to GLB?

FBX is a proprietary binary format tied to Autodesk tools and often runs large. GLB is the open, compact standard that web viewers, AR tools and most modern engines expect in a single file.

Is my 3D model uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing and conversion happen in your browser with three.js, so the file never leaves your device.

Does this need Autodesk software installed?

No. three.js implements its own FBX reader, so no FBX SDK, plugin or desktop software is required.
